COURTENAY, B.C. – Matteo Giomo scored twice and Marcus Gloss made 35 saves to help lead the Comox Valley Glacier Kings to an 8-2 romp over the Victoria Cougars on Friday night.

The loss ended Victoria’s six game win streak.

Comox Valley jumped out to a 3-0 lead as early as the 13:17 mark of the first period, prompting Cougars head coach Suneil Karod to make a goaltending change.

Anthony Ciurro, who had won his last three starts, gave up three goals on four shots.

The Glacier Kings led 3-0 after one period and 7-1 after two.

Also scoring for Comox Valley were Zachary Ahola, Willie Daigneault, Liam Nijhoff, Finn Withey, Caleb Dolman, and Austin Heidt with his first goal of the season.

Kyle Wade and Tyler Vanuden replied in a losing cause.

The Cougars finished 1-for-6 with the man advantage; meanwhile, the Glacier Kings went 1-for-7.

Liam McCloskey made 18 saves in relief.

Elsewhere in the VIJHL:  Saanich Braves 9, Peninsula Panthers 3.  Nanaimo Buccaneers 7, Campbell River Storm 3.

Next game for Victoria is Thursday, January 5, 2017 versus the Peninsula Panthers.  Game time at the Archie Browning Sports Centre, located at 1151 Esquimalt Road, is 7:00 p.m.
