Prince Albert, SK – A goal in the waning moments of the third period handed the Prince Albert Raiders (7-25-1-1) a 4-3 loss to the Swift Current Broncos (18-10-3-4) on Saturday night at the Art Hauser Centre.
Kade Jensen scored his third goal of the season with 3:38 remaining to give the Broncos the win.
The Raiders got off to a great start in the game. Loch Morrison found the back of the net with a blast from the point for his second goal of the season 3:20 into the opening period. Later in the period, Max Martin tallied his second as a Raider, beating Travis Child with a wrist shot from the point.
That ended the night for Swift Current’s starter, making two saves on four attempts. The goalie changed sparked the broncos, however. Kole Gable and Aleksi Heponiemi scored before the end of the period to make it a 2-2 game after 20 minutes.
Four minutes into the second, Gable notched his second of the game to give the Broncos the 3-2 lead.
That lead held until there was 4:45 left on the clock. Austin Glover scored his 12th of the season when his wrist shot went off of Taz Burman’s glove and trickled over the goal line. However, Jensen then gave the Broncos the lead just over a minute later, which held up as the game winner.
Ian Scott made 31 saves for the Raiders in the loss. In relief for the Broncos, Burman stopped 16 shots.
Saturday marked the final game for the Raiders before the holiday break. They resume play on Tuesday, December 27 when they host the Saskatoon Blades in a 7 p.m. start.
