Calgary, AB - The Western Hockey League announced today that Kamloops Blazers forward Deven Sideroff has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending December 18, 2016.

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Kamloops Blazers forward Deven Sideroff has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending December 18, 2016.

Sideroff registered eight points (5G-3A), including three game-winning goals, in four games to help the Kamloops Blazers go 3-1-0-0 this past week.

On Tuesday, December 13, Sideroff recorded two goals, including the game-winner, along with an assist in a 4-3 overtime win at Red Deer and was named first star for his efforts. The following day on Wednesday, December 14, Sideroff scored two more goals, once again notching the game-winner, in a 3-2 overtime win at Lethbridge and was named third star. On Friday, December 16, Sideroff produced an assist in a 5-3 loss at Medicine Hat. Sideroff rounded out a productive week on Saturday, December 17, scoring the game-winning goal once again, while adding an assist in an 8-1 win at Kootenay.

The 19-year-old Sideroff is currently first in scoring on the Blazers with 40 points (22G-18A) in 34 games. In early November, he represented Team WHL at the 2016 CIBC Canada Russia Series in Prince George and Edmonton, marking his second consecutive appearance at the event.

The 6-foot, 183-pound forward was selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the third round (84th) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

Originally listed by the Kamloops Blazers in September 2012 and signed in January 2013, Sideroff is in his third full season with the Blazers. The product of Summerland, BC, has collected 149 points (61G-88A) in 175 career WHL regular season games.

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Prince George Cougars goaltender Ty Edmonds has been named the WHL Goaltender of the Week and the league nominee for Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending December 18, 2016.

Edmonds, a 20-year-old product of Winnipeg, MB, went 3-0-0-0 this past week, with a 1.67 goals-against average and .932 save percentage. He opened the week with a 16-save performance on Tuesday, December 13, in a 4-1 win versus Tri-City before turning aside another 22 shots on Wednesday, December 14, in a 5-3 win versus Tri-City. Taking to the road, Edmonds made 30 saves on Saturday, December 17, in a 2-1 win at Spokane, earning first star honours.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound goaltender was originally selected by the Prince George Cougars in the ninth round (186th) of the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft. In his fourth season with the Cougars, Edmonds is 20-5-1-0. His 2.07 GAA ranks second in the WHL, while his .925 SV% ranks third in the league this season. The veteran puck-stopper’s 20 triumphs also rank second in the WHL. Edmonds has one shutout to his credit this season.

In 188 career WHL regular season appearances, Edmonds is 89-65-7-8 with a 3.24 GAA, .900 SV% and seven shutouts.
