Winterhawks Fall 6-2 in Tri-Cities Tuesday

The Portland Winterhawks (19-17-1-0) fell 6-2 to the Tri-City Americans (20-15-3-0) Tuesday in a road contest played in Kennewick, WA.

 

Forward Skyler McKenzie sparked the Portland offense tonight against the Americans, netting two goals to bring his season total to 24 goals. McKenzie’s 24 goals on the season not only lead the Hawks, but also ties him for fifth overall among the league’s leading goal scorers, and has extended his point streak to six games.

The Hawks will now return to Portland where they will take home ice tomorrow night against the Americans in Veterans Memorial Coliseum at 7 pm.

–       3rd @ 2:14 – AuCoin (Olson) scores his second of the night for a 3-1 Americans lead. (POR 1 – TC 3)

–       3rd @ 5:40 – (PP) While on the power play, McKenzie (Jokiharju) responds with his second of the night to cut the deficit to 3-2. (POR 2 – TC 3)

–       3rd @ 13:41 – Tyler Sandhu (Rasmussen, Yorke) makes it 4-2 for the Americans after he bangs in a rebound. (POR 2 – TC 4)

–       3rd @ 16:13 – (PP) Rasmussen (Coghlan) scores his second power play goal for a 5-2 Tri-City lead. (POR 2 – TC 5)

–       3rd @ 18:50 – (PP) Vladislav Lukin (Wotherspoon, Coghlan) finds the back of the net with the Americans on a 5-on-4 power play to put Tri-City up 6-2, which would stand as the final. (POR 2 – TC 6)
