The Swift Current Broncos saw their four-game win streak end on Wednesday night to the Moose Jaw Warriors, dropping a 4-1 decision at Mosaic Place.

Brayden Burke finished off a touch pass from Brett Howden in front of the Bronco cage to put Moose Jaw up 1-0 midway through the first period. Shots were 13-10 for Swift Current through 20 minutes.

Howden added to the Warriors lead with an impressive individual effort in the second period, cutting to the Bronco net and going around goaltender Taz Burman to extend their lead to 2-0.

The Broncos responded as Tyler Steenbergen deflected an Artyom Minulin wrister by Warriors netminder Zach Sawchenko to cut the deficit in half. The goal was under video review and stood as a good goal.

Warriors forward Tanner Jeannot scored less than two minutes later to give Moose Jaw a 3-1 lead at the 9:55 mark of the frame. Swift Current put nine shots on goal but could not find the back of the net and trailed by two heading into the final period of play.

Jayden Halbgewachs netted his WHL-leading 30th goal to grow the Broncos deficit to 4-1. Tempers flared as Broncos forward Arthur Miller and Warriors defenceman Josh Thrower duked it out, landing five minute major penalties.

The Broncos pulled Burman for the extra attacker with 1:30 remaining but no magic occurred this time around and 4-1 was the final score.

Swift Current outshot Moose Jaw by a 30-26 margin. Both clubs combined to go 0/7 on power play opportunities.

The Broncos return home to battle the Saskatoon Blades on Friday, December 30th at the Credit Union i-Plex. Before the game, the Broncos will have a special pre-game presentation in remembrance of the four Broncos that lost their lives in the 1986 bus crash as Friday night marks the 30th anniversary of the accident. Puck drop is at 7:00pm CST.
