The Victoria Cougars announced today the signing of defenseman Shane Kime for the remainder of the 2016-17 season.

Kime, 19, comes from the North Vancouver Wolf Pack of the Pacific Junior Hockey League.  In 40 games with North Vancouver last year, Kime had six goals and 17 assists for 23 points.

Listed at six-foot-one and 175-pounds, Kime was a teammate of Dante Fabbro while playing for the Vancouver North West Giants of the British Columbia Major Midget League three years ago.

Fabbro, who is currently taking part in the World Junior Championships, went on to get selected 17th overall by the Nashville Predators in the 2016 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

Regarded as a puck moving defenseman, Kime is also effective in playing both the power play and penalty kill.

Expect Kime to be in the lineup when Victoria hosts the Peninsula Panthers on Thursday.
