Cranbrook, B.C. – Tyler Popowich scored two goals, but the Vancouver Giants dropped the final game of their Central Division road trip, falling 3-2 to the Kootenay Ice on Sunday afternoon at Western Financial Place.

Popowich tipped a Matt Barberis point shot past Kootenay goalie Payton Lee on a power play at 7:11 of the first period to put Vancouver on the board. It was Popowich’s fourth goal of the season. Cale Fleury equalized for the Ice with a shot from the left circle less that two minutes later.
Barrett Sheen scored on a breakaway in the second period to give Kootenay the lead, and Austin Wellsby added a goal early in the third period. Popowich pulled Vancouver back to within one goal, scoring another power play marker on a pretty deke at the top of the crease. The G-Men pulled goalie David Tendeck for an extra attacker and created a flurry around the Ice goal in the closing moments, but they couldn’t beat Lee.
Vancouver out shot Kootenay 34-29. The G-Men were 2-for-4 on the power play. 20-year-old forward Thomas Foster was a late scratch and was traded to the Moose Jaw Warriors during the game.
