National Slopestyle Team Kicks Off 2017 at Font Romeu FIS World Cup

The members of the Canadian slopestyle team have taken off to Font Romeu, France, where the first FIS Slopestyle World Cup of the 2016–2017 season will be held. For some of the team members, it will be an anticipated return to competition, notably for the Sochi Olympic gold medallist Dara Howell, as well as for bronze medallist Kim Lamarre.

A complete and healthy team will thus be present at this World Cup where coaches wish to take home a few medals. “Our athletes have had a good start to the season in Milan and at the Dew Tour. We come to Font Romeu with a complete team that is more than ready for this slopestyle World Cup. I believe we have great chances of coming off with podium finishes, both with the men and ladies, even though the competition level will be relatively high,” explains Jean-François Cusson.

The slopestyle team was successful last December at the Dew Tour; Alex Beaulieu-Marchand took home the bronze in two events: Pro Competition and Ski Streetstyle. Among the ladies, Kaya Turski proved that she still has her place in the world elite by finishing third. As for Alex Bellemare, last season’s winner of the Olympic Slopestyle test event on the 2018 host course in Pyeongchang, Korea, he distinguished himself in the Ski Streetstyle event with a conspicuous performance that won him first place

The following athletes will participate in the competition:
