Vancouver, B.C. – The Vancouver Giants lost 4-1 to the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors on Friday night at the Langley Events Centre. Ty Ronning had the Giants’ lone goal.
Former Giant Thomas Foster, who was dealt to Moose Jaw last weekend, opened the scoring for the Warriors with a first period power play goal. Ronning equalized for the G-Men, beating Warriors goalie Brody Willms from the slot after a pretty setup from Brendan Semchuk, Jayden Halbgewachs restored the Moose Jaw lead, scoring his league-leading 38th goal of the year, with under two minutes to go in the frame.
The Giants had a couple of good chances to tie the game in the second period. James Malm hit the cross-bar with a shot from the right circle, and Brayden Watts was denied by Willms late in the stanza.
Moose Jaw added two goals in the third period. Brayden Burke scored on the power play while Brett Howden bagged a shorthanded marker.
Ryan Kubic made 21 saves in the Vancouver net. Tyler Ho played his first WHL game for Vancouver while Watts, Calvin Spencer and Jordan Wharrie all made their debut in a Giants uniform.
The Giants will visit the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday night. Face-off is set for 7:00pm.
Vancouver returns to home ice on Tuesday night against the Victoria Royals. The puck will drop at 7:00pm at the Langley Events Centre.
