The Portland Winterhawks (22-19-1-0) dropped a 6-5 decision to the Spokane Chiefs (18-19-5-2) Saturday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Portland’s offense was led by Skyler McKenzie, who had two goals against the Chiefs tonight. With these goals, McKenzie reached the 50-point plateau in just 42 games, doubling his career-high of 25 points set last season. Cody Glass and Alex Overhardt each posted a goal and an assist in the loss, and Joachim Blichfeld registered two assists.

The Hawks will now travel to British Columbia for a four-game road trip where they’ll take on the Prince George Cougars in back-to-back nights, and then head to Kamloops and Kelowna the following weekend.
