Kamloops, BC—The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women’s soccer program is heading to Vancouver Island for a prospect camp.
Head coach Kelly Shantz has joined forces with the Vancouver Island Premier League’s Upper Island Riptide to hold a weekend event in the Campbell River area (February 4-5). Most of the activities will take place on the Saturday (Feb 4).
Shantz along with some assistant coaches and current/former players will be running training sessions and evaluating players in the 1999-2001 birth years.
The training sessions will be held at Robron Turf Field.
As well, there will be opportunities for potential players and their parents to meet with Academic Advisors from TRU and ask questions of the coaching staff, current and former players about playing for the WolfPack and USport (formerly CIS) soccer.
TRU had three players from the Vancouver Island/Sunshine Coast area on their squad last year: Kenzie Lacon (Victoria, BC) along with two Powell River players: Ricci Leitch and Natalie Verdiel).
TRU has had a number of athletes hail from the Vancouver Island region in recent years. These include former star volleyball player Brad Gunter (Courtenay) and current TRU players Chelsey Hoey (women’s basketball-Parksville), Carly Gunter (women’s volleyball-Courtenay) and basketball player Noah Kaefer (Courtenay).
Firm times and other details on registration will be forthcoming in upcoming weeks. For more info you can contact head coach Kelly Shantz at firstname.lastname@example.org or the VIPL Riptide.
