She Shoots campaign live at ahead of national championship in March


VICTORIA – A new year means a new national championship to look forward to for sports fans on Vancouver Island, as the University of Victoria Vikes prepare to welcome the best university women’s basketball teams in the country to the CARSA Performance Gym from March 9-12.

The tournament is the second event in the Vikes’ year-long She Shoots She Scores campaign celebrating women in sport after the women’s rugby championship in November. The official countdown to the tournament, featuring athlete stories and other engaging content, is on at

The University of Victoria Vikes have the distinct honour of hosting two U Sports women’s championships in one school year.

With the 2016 U Sports women’s rugby championship in the books, attention now turns to the 2017 U Sports Women’s Basketball Final 8, set to take place at the CARSA Performance Gym from March 9-12.

In anticipation of the tournament, which will feature four days of intense action and will be broadcast live to a national audience on Sportsnet, the Vikes are continuing to celebrate women in sport with the year-long She Shoot She Scores campaign.
