Prince George, B.C. – Prince George Cougars General Manager Todd Harkins announced today that the Cougars have signed 2001-born forward Edge Lambert (Grande Prairie, AB) to a Standard WHL Player Agreement.
Originally selected by the Prince George Cougars in the seventh round (143rd overall) of the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft, The 5’11”, 176 pound forward has registered four goals and two assists in 29 games with the Notre Dame Argos of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA League. During his 2015-16 Bantam Season, Lambert scored 20 goals and added 24 assists for 44 points helping guide the Notre Dame Hounds to a Saskatchewan Bantam League Championship. He had an additional two goals and two assists in six playoff games and dressed in three games as an under-ager for the Notre Dame Hounds where he chipped in with two goals and an assist. He attended Training Camp with the Cougars in 2016 and suited up for Team Black in the Rob Charney Cup intra-squad game at the conclusion of camp.
“Edge showed during Training Camp that he can play at this level and he’s going to be a big part of our future plans,” said Cougars General Manager, Todd Harkins. “He skates well, competes hard and is very dynamic offensively. We’re very excited to have Edge Lambert and his family as a part of our organization moving forward.”
The signing of Lambert means that the Cougars have now signed five of their 2016 Bantam Draft picks. The other four players are: Goaltender Taylor Gauthier, defencemen Cole Beamin and Jack Michell and forward Keegan Craik.
