Freestyle Canada’s Moguls Teams Back in Action and Aim to Repeat Podium Performances

The FIS Freestyle World Cup Tour continues this weekend with another event on Canadian soil, this time in Calgary, Alberta. After Val Saint-Côme last weekend, the mogul athletes will compete at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park on January 28, where they will attempt to repeat last year’s remarkable feat of winning five of six medals in the men’s and women’s single moguls competition.

The Canadian athletes will arrive in Calgary after their triumphant weekend in Val Saint-Côme, recording four medal performances: a second consecutive sweep on the ladies’ side for Team Canada and a third straight victory for Mikaël Kingsbury, once again earning him the yellow jersey on the FIS World Cup Tour.

Kingsbury has an enviable record in Calgary where he has won six consecutive World Cups. The Quebec skier from Deux-Montagnes will undoubtedly want to add another title to his list this weekend. Last year, Kingsbury shared the podium with his teammate and good friend, Philippe Marquis, who finished second.

As for the ladies, they recorded back-to-back podium sweeps at both home hosted World Cups last season. In Calgary, Chloé and Justine Dufour-Lapointe secured 1st and 2nd place respectively, followed by Andi Naude, whose third position was her first World Cup podium in Canada. Naude brought her number of World Cup victories to three last weekend with a second place finish in Val Saint-Côme. As for the Dufour-Lapointe sisters, they have great success in Calgary: Justine has scored five podiums, among which two are gold medals, while Chloé has won medals in Calgary these past four years, including gold last year.
