LAS VEGAS – The biggest names in professional darts are returning to Las Vegas in 2017 to compete in the U.S. Masters at the Tropicana Las Vegas, July 13 – 15.

The three-day tournament will represent the first time the Professional Darts Corporation’s (PDC) World Series of Darts, a circuit that includes events in Dubai, Australia, New Zealand and China, has been hosted in the U.S. International stars of the highly competitive sport will compete against North American challengers in Las Vegas for the first time since the 2010 PDC Desert Classic.

“The World Series of Darts has been a hugely exciting concept since we first introduced events in Dubai and Sydney four years ago,” said PDC Chairman, Barry Hearn. “Anyone familiar with the sport knows that the 2017 U.S. Masters will be an amazing addition to this year’s series. Those who are getting to know darts for the first time won’t find a more thrilling atmosphere than Las Vegas in July.”

The U.S. Masters will give North American players the opportunity to challenge the likes of world number one and reigning PDC World Champion Michael van Gerwen, former back-to-back world champion Gary Anderson and the legendary Phil Taylor, a five-time winner of the Las Vegas Desert Classic and 16-time world champion. This will all take place in an electric fan-fueled atmosphere in front of an international television audience.

“This is an amazing opportunity for darts players from North America to compete against the biggest and best names in the sport,” said Hearn. “Additionally, fans worldwide will be given the chance to join in the excitement of this event as they tune in live to the entertainment capital of the world.”

Two days of qualifiers will be held at the Tropicana’s Trinidad Pavilion July 11 – 12 and allow any darts player from North America the opportunity to win their way into the eight-player North American Championship, held on Thursday, July 13. Not only will this event determine the domestic champion, but the winner will also earn the right to represent North America at the 2017-18 World Championship in London.

Thursday, July 13 – The North American Championship

Eight North American competitors, the top darts players from the July 11 and 12 qualifying rounds, will play down to a single winner who will represent North America at the 2017-18 World Darts Championship.
