Victoria Cougars hammered the Peninsula Panthers 10-1

NORTH SAANICH, B.C. – Grayden Hohl, Dom Kolbeins, and James Scott each had a pair of goals and an assist on Friday as the Victoria Cougars hammered the Peninsula Panthers 10-1 in one of three VIJHL games played.

With the win, the South Island Division leading Cougars now hold a commanding seven point lead on the Saanich Braves who dropped an overtime decision to the Kerry Park Islanders earlier in the evening.

Also scoring for Victoria was Nick Gomerich, Jordan Passmore, Branden Tangney, and Kaelen Anderson.

Gavin Yee replied for Peninsula midway through the first period when the Cougars were leading 1-0.

Chipping in with four assists was Avery Hill.

Victoria went 4-for-6 on the power play while the Panthers scored once on six chances with the man advantage.

Shots on goal favoured the Cougars 34-22.

Elsewhere in the VIJHL:  Kerry Park Islanders 3, Saanich Braves 2 (OT).  Campbell River Storm 2, Westshore Wolves 1 (2OT).

Next game for Victoria is Tuesday, February 7 versus the Campbell River Storm.  Game time at the Archie Browning Sports Centre, located at 1151 Esquimalt Road, is 6:30 p.m.
