Humphrey bettered the previous record of 1.95m, which both he and TWU alum Jake Powrie shared. Powrie set the mark Mar. 8, 2012 and Humphrey equaled it Feb. 22, 2014. Humphrey’s 2.00m clearance puts him amongst the top 12 in the U SPORTS rankings.

In pole vault, first-year Maxime Léveillé (Shefford, Que.) continued his steady improvement this season, clearing a season’s best 4.60m to finish fourth and move into the top 10 in the national rankings.

First-year Aaron Postma (Abbotsford, B.C.) came up one centimetre shy of tying the TWU triple jump record, as he finished second with a mark of 14.14m. Fellow first-year teammate Denzel Brown (Port Coquitlam, B.C.) set the Spartans record at 14.15m earlier this year. Brown was fourth on Saturday, jumping 13.76m.

On the track, Declan White (South Surrey, B.C.) won the mile in 4:18.59, while Tyler de Jong (Langley, B.C.) finished first in the 600m in 1:23.42.

TWU is back in action next weekend when the Spartans compete in the Husky Classic at the University of Washington Feb. 10-11 and the UW Open Feb. 12.
