Prince George, B.C. – The Vancouver Giants got their lone goal from Jack Flaman en route to a 4-1 loss to the Prince George Cougars on Tuesday night at the CN Centre. Ryan Kubic made 29 saves in the Vancouver crease.
Former Giant Radovan Bondra opened the scoring for Prince George midway through the first period, tipping a Sam Ruopp point shot past Kubic from the slot.
Flaman equalized for the G-Men in the middle frame, shovelling a rebound into the net from the top of the crease. Jared Bethune restored the Cougars’ lead later in the period.
Nikita Popugaev and Jesse Gabrielle added third period goals for Prince George.
The Cougars out shot Vancouver 33-26. The Giants went 0-for-2 on the power play but were a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
The two teams will meet again on Wednesday night in Prince George. Face-off is set for 7:00pm.
The Giants’ next home game is set for Saturday, February 11th, against the Kelowna Rockets. Face-off is slated for 7:00pm at the Langley Events Centre.
