Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals fell to the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-1 on Tuesday night at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre as Ryan Gropp recorded a hat-trick for the visitors.
Gropp scored twice in the first period, which included the game-winner, and then tallied an empty net goal in the final frame to round out the scoring. Victoria’s lone marker was scored on the powerplay by forward Dante Hannoun mid-way through the first period.
Royals’ goaltender Griffen Outhouse turned aside 29 out of the 31 shots he faced. Seattle netminder Matt Berlin stopped 17 out of the 18 pucks fired his way.
Victoria held a 1/4=25.0% mark with the man-advantage, while the Thunderbirds went 0/3=0.0% on the powerplay.
The Royals will face-off against the Seattle Thunderbirds, in the final regular season meeting between
the two clubs, tomorrownight at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
