Raiders Road Winning Streak Snapped In The Hat

Medicine Hat, AB – The Prince Albert Raiders (13-37-3-2) had their four-game road winning streak halted on Wednesday night following a 3-2 loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers (38-16-1-0) at the Canalta Centre.

The Raiders jumped out to a lead at the 7:06 mark of the first period. Curtis Miske’s shot ricocheted off of the leg of a Tigers defender and onto the tape of Tim Vanstone’s stick. The captain made no mistake in giving the Raiders a 1-0 lead.

In the second, the Tigers tied the game with a power-play goal. Mason Shaw deflected a point shot past Ian Scott at the 5:09 mark of the frame. Then with 3:46 remaining in the period, Jordan Henderson scored following a faceoff in the Raiders’ end, giving the Tigers a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.

Medicine Hat extended its lead at the 4:06 mark of the third. Zach Fischer beat Scott with a sharp-angle slot from the wing to give the Tigers a 3-1 advantage. The Raiders cut into the lead with 2:26 left in the third. With the goaltender pulled, D-Jay Jerome tallied his first goal with the Raiders to make it a 3-2 game. However, it was as close as the Raiders got. The Tigers kept the Raiders at bay in the waning moments of the period to hang on for the win.

Scott had a strong effort in goal for the Raiders, keeping his team in it with a number of quality saves scattered among the 36 made in the game. Michael Bullion stopped 25 shots in the win.
