Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals were defeated 3-1 by the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday night at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
The Blazers’ Deven Sideroff scored the game winner late in the middle frame, while Collin Shirley tallied the game’s first goal in the opening stanza. Rudolfs Balcers registered the remaining marker late in the third period.
Victoria’s Eric Florchuk finished off a beautiful give-and-go play with Carter Folk for the rookie’s third marker of the season.
Royals’ goaltender Griffen Outhouse got the nod in net and stopped 33 of the 36 shots fired at him. Blazers’ netminder Dylan Ferguson turned aside 36 of the 37 pucks directed his way.
Victoria went 0/6=0.0% on the man-advantage and Kamloops held a mark of 3/7=42.9% on the night.
The Royals will now head out on a four-game road trip that begins on Tuesday, February 15th against the Medicine Hat Tigers. Puck drop is set for 6:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.
Victoria returns home for their sixth annual Pink in the Rink Night on Saturday, February 25th against the Vancouver Giants with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
