Cougars set to host final home game of regular season

The Victoria Cougars entertain the Comox Valley Glacier Kings this Thursday.

Game time at the Archie Browning Sports Centre, located at 1151 Esquimalt Road, is 7:00 p.m.

Fans purchasing a minimum of five dollars in 50/50 tickets will be admitted into the game for only five dollars.

Thursday marks the final home game and second to last game of the regular season for the Cougars.

Victoria travels to Campbell River on Friday.

Finishing in first place overall is still a possibility for the Cougars who are shooting for their seventh straight Andy Hebenton Trophy (awarded to the team that finishes the regular season with the most points).

Winners of its last seven games, Victoria will have that streak tested on Thursday as the Glacier Kings are the only team Suneil Karod and his troops have not beaten all season.

Comox Valley is 3-0-0-0 against the Cougars which includes an 8-2 win on December 16.

Interestingly, Victoria has not lost in regulation since that mid-December debacle.

Cougars’ Dom Kolbeins is riding a six-game point streak.

Elsewhere in the VIJHL, the Oceanside Generals travel to Nanaimo to take on the Buccaneers at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.
