Axemen football coach Jeff Cummins announced today that Special Teams Coordinator Peter Fraser will be leaving the Acadia football program to join the OUA’s Windsor Lancers.

Fraser joined the Axemen in 2009 and quickly grew in his role as assistant head coach and coordinator of Acadia’s special team’s unit.

A graduate of the University of Ottawa, who played for the Gee Gees from 1998 to 1999, Fraser started his university coaching career as a full time associate coach, special teams coordinator, defensive line coach, recruiting and video Coordinator with the McGill Redmen in 2007.

In 2009, Fraser joined the Axemen in a role as an assistant head coach, special teams coordinator, defensive line coach and video & recruiting coordinator, where he won two AUS championships in 2011 and 2012.

From Oromocto, N.B., Fraser will join the Windsor Lancers as the defensive coordinator under head coach Joe D’Amore.

“I am proud to have been a member of the Acadia family for the last eight seasons. I would like to thank the players, assistant coaches and Coach Cummins.  Acadia is a very special place to be involved in university athletics,” commented Fraser.

Head Coach Jeff Cummins passed on his best wishes for Peter in his new position with the Lancers.

“Peter is a great coach, great friend, great communicator, role model and an amazing defensive line coach,” noted Cummins.

Adding, “He will be sorely missed in the office, on the field and in our athletic department. I am very happy for the opportunity Pete is getting with Windsor and I know he will do a great job. We will do our best to find a replacement but understand these are big shoes to fill.”
The Lancers open up the regular season on August 27 against the visiting Waterloo Warriors. The Axemen start the 2017 regular season campaign on the road in Sackville, N.B. against the hosting Mount Allison Mounties on August 26.
