Postma, George set Spartan records at University of Washington open

SEATTLE – Trinity Western first-year Aaron Postma (Abbotsford, B.C.) set the Spartans triple jump record and fifth-year Nathan George topped the school’s 600m all-time mark Sunday in the University of Washington Open at Dempsey Indoor.

Postma broke the triple jump record with a mark of 14.21m, bettering the previous best of 14.15m, which fellow first-year Denzel Brown (Port Coquitlam, B.C.) set at the University of Washington Indoor Preview earlier this year.

George posted a time of 1:18.68 in the 600m, which was nearly a half second quicker than the previous TWU record of 1:19.11, which George had also set at this year’s UW Indoor Preview. George’s time saw him just miss out on the U SPORTS automatic qualification standard of 1:18.54.

The Spartans will now prepare for the Canada West Championships, which are Feb. 24-25 in Regina.

Prior to that, the Spartans pole vaulters will host one final showcase event Feb. 18 at 3:30 p.m. at the David E. Enarson Gym on the TWU campus.
