Vancouver, B.C. – The Vancouver Giants lost 6-1 to the Kamloops Blazers on Friday night at the Langley Events Centre. Calvin Spencer scored Vancouver’s lone goal.
Spencer put the Giants ahead less than two minutes into the game when he beat Kamloops goalie Connor Ingram with a one-timer from the left circle after a setup by Jordan Borstmayer. Quinn Benjafield tied the game, scoring on a two-on-one later in the first period.
Rudolfs Balcers tallied the eventual winning goal on a power play in the middle frame to put Kamloops ahead. Lane Bauer beat Vancouver goaltender Ryan Kubic from off the rush just a couple of minutes later before Balcers bagged his second marker of the period on a hard drive to the net. Garrett Pilon made it 5-1 when he banged a rebound past Kubic just 29 seconds after Balcers’ goal.
Nick Chyzowski scored less than two minutes into the third period.
The Blazers out shot the Giants 39-25. Vancouver went 0-for-3 on the power play.
The G-Men will be back in action at the LEC on Saturday against the Red Deer Rebels. Face-off is slated for 7:00pm.
