Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals took down the Vancouver Giants 3-1 in front of a sold out crowd for Pink in the Rink Night, as goaltender Griffen Outhouse tied the franchise record for most victories in a season.
The Royals’ Outhouse turned aside 31 of the 32 shots he faced to earn his 32nd win of the campaign. Outhouse is now tied with alumnus Coleman Volrath (2015-16) for the most victories in a single season.
Victoria’s Jared Dmytriw, who was named the game’s first star, scored two markers in the first and second period. Forward Vladimir Bobylev opened the scoring for the second time in as many nights after he finished off a slick give-and-go with forward Matthew Phillips to electrify the crowd.
Phillips assisted on all three goals to improve his team-leading points total to 78 (43g-35a).
Giants’ forward Calvin Spencer scored the lone goal for the visitors on the man-advantage in the middle stanza. Vancouver netminder David Tendeck stopped 20 of the 23 pucks fired his way.
