Vancouver, BC: BC Rugby has again partnered with Grosvenor to showcase Elite Men’s and Women’s Sevens Rugby at the Vancouver Rugby Festival. Headlining the women’s competition will be Rugby Canada’s Women’s Maple Leafs Team, with some of those players coming off the back of a bronze medal finish at the HSBC World Rugby Women’s Sevens tournament in Las Vegas this past weekend.

Through Grosvenor’s support, BC Rugby awards the winners of the Elite Men’s and Elite Women’s divisions $5,000 each. While the Elite Men’s gold medal match will take place at UBC this Friday, the Women’s division have the honour of playing the gold (and bronze) medal matches at BC Place on Saturday, March 11, during a break in play of the HSBC Canada Sevens Vancouver Tournament, of which Grosvenor is a signature partner.

“Supporting our local sports community and contributing to its vibrancy are important to Grosvenor. We are pleased to know the funds will benefit BC’s dedicated athletes who represent our Province in tournaments around North America,” said Michael Ward, Senior Vice President and General Manager for Grosvenor’s Vancouver operation.

“This tournament provides a great opportunity for us to attract elite teams to challenge BC’s aspiring players. BC Rugby aims to support more BC players to lead our National Teams to success. With Grosvenor’s support, we’re able to create this opportunity to attract strong and inspiring opposition to come to Vancouver and meet us in our own backyard,” said Annabel Kehoe, Chief Executive Officer for BC Rugby.

Spectators are encouraged to make their way to UBC’s Gerald McGavin Rugby Centre on Friday, March 10, to witness the playoff matches of both the Elite Men’s and Women’s divisions, the day concluding with the Elite Men’s Gold Medal match at approximately 4.30pm.
