March 13th 2017, Bremerton, WA: Big hits, strong defense, and dependable jamming led to the Eves of Destruction A-Team’s win over Kitsap County’s Northwest Derby Company 171-153 Saturday night (March 11th).
Tina F. Lawless, A-Team skater and Margarita Villains’ captain, emphasizes the importance of opening the season with a victory on the road. The A-Team finished their 2016 season strong, going 4-0 at the Hicktown Throwdown tournament, and adding to this at the start of 2017 will help keep that momentum alive.
“It was a hard fought battle. We got into a bit of penalty trouble but we were able to regroup and pull everything together for the win. It is a great confidence boost for the team, seeing our off-season work pay off and start 2017 right!”
Standout players on the The A-Team included The Frenzie, who threw down some devastating hits on the opposition, Tina F. Lawless, who contributed strong defense, and jammers Hot Piece-A-Sass and Toombstone, who were able to use their agility and speed to outmaneuver and burst through NDC walls.
Toombstone was recognized for her jamming efforts by NDC, who awarded her MVP Jammer; teammate Pile Driver was given the MVP Blocker nod.
This is the third time in the recent past The A-Team has defeated NDC. Last season The A-Team bested NDC on the road and at home, at Archie Browning Arena.
