Victoria, BC, Canada – March 30, 2017 – The Greater Victoria Minor Football Association (GVMFA) has a long history of youth football in Victoria for players from Kindergarten to Grade 8.
With league games starting this weekend, GVMFA is holding a fun day of football for their players at Westhills Stadium from 2-6pm on Saturday, April 1. This fun day will include skill development drills and a touch football scrimmage against Coaches including Dexter Janke Linebacker with the Calgary Stampeders and recently retired Tim O’Neill Offensive Lineman with the BC Lions.
“I have come on as an Assistant Coach with the Saanich Wolverines Pee Wee team this season and look forward to helping out all the teams at this fun event. It is important to me as a player to give back to a game that has given me so much,” says Dexter Janke.
Along with our guest Coaches, Charly Cardilicchia Head Coach of the Westshore Rebels and Junior Bantam team will also be in attendance, along with players from the Westshore Rebels team. After 20 seasons this will be Coach Cardilicchia’s last season with the Junior Bantam team due to his time commitment with the Rebels. The Junior Bantam team recently won the BC Provincials this past fall.
“I have been very involved in youth football for many years and will continue to support GVMFA as much as I can. It has been an amazing experience to see kids I have coached now play for the Rebels or CIS teams. Football in Victoria is growing and I look forward to seeing the next generation of GVMFA Coaches continue its success,” says Charly Cardilicchia.
