Stealth Seeking Playoff Berth

The Vancouver Stealth (6-8) visit the Saskatchewan Rush (9-4) inside the Sasktel Centre on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 6:30pm.

Saturday’s game in Saskatoon is the third installment of the National Lacrosse League’s Game of the Week on Twitter. Where fans can watch all the action live and free on Twitter, even if they are not a member of the social platform.

The Stealth head into the Sasktel Centre for the second time this season with a 1-1 record against the Rush. Saskatchewan took the first victory 16-12 on January 27, while Vancouver returned the favor with a 13-9 win on March 4, inside the Langley Events Centre.

The Rush are currently the only team in the NLL that have clinched a playoff berth. The Stealth are sitting in the third and final playoff position in the West, a half game up on the Calgary Roughnecks.

“This time of the year is where you must put everything out there for the victory,” said Justin Salt. “With the standings, so tight in the West, every win is obviously important but it comes down to winning every shift. As a team, we are going to battle to the very end.”

The defending NLL Champions are led by Mark Matthews who has scored 28 goals, 60 assists and 88 points. He currently sits in the second spot in NLL scoring behind Corey Small. In 14 games, Small has scored 37 goals, 52 assists and 89 points. In last week’s game, Small broke his career high in points.

“It is a pivotal game in the standings between two good teams that match up very well against each other,” said Stealth play-by-play host Jake Elliott. “Games between the Stealth and the Rush are always entertaining and never disappoint.”

The Stealth return home on Saturday, April 15, 2017 in a pivotal game against playoff-hopeful Calgary. The game is “Lacrosse on the Move night” where any youth wearing a minor lacrosse jersey gets inside the Langley Events Centre for free with a paying adult. The game will also be the jersey giveaway night where fans can bid on game-worn player jerseys with all proceeds going to the Lacrosse on the Move Fund.
