Kamloops, BC – After the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Baseball team won both games on Saturday against the Vancouver Island Mariners, the two teams were on the field again on Sunday to complete their weekend series. The ‘Pack won both games again, winning 8-7 and 5-4. Game two was a walk off win, the team’s second of the weekend.


Kirkland, Washington native Dillon Ferguson started on the mound in game one after fighting an illness all week. He through seven innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on eight hits and three walks. He also struck out eight Mariner batters. Joe Siniscalchi (Burnaby, BC) threw a 1/3 of an inning. He walked one who came around to score. Duncan Elgert (Calgary, AB) suffered a blown save but got the win. He threw 1 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk. He struck out one batter.

After the Mariners took the led in the top of the eighth, the WolfPack tied the game on a Malik James (Toronto, ONT) double. He came into score on a pass ball to give the ‘Pack an 8-7 lead. James finished 2-4 with a double, his first career CCBC triple, two RBIs and two runs scored. Vance Fode (Bow Island, AB) has another big game at the plate, going 2-3 with a double, three RBIs and a walk. Isiah McDonald (Grand Forks, BC) went 2-2 with a RBI, two runs scored and two walks. Josh Snider (Moses Lake, WA) went 2-3 with a double, a run scored and a walk. These four players collected eight hits in the game for the ‘Pack.

Josh Snider started game two on the mound and threw his first career complete game and got his first career CCBC win. He allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits and three walks while striking out seven.

For the second time on the weekend, the ‘Pack walked off the Mariners. This time Blayne Halland (Kamloops, BC) played hero with a bloop single that scored Robert Scarr (Tsawwassen, BC) to win the game. Halland finished 2-5 with a triple, the game winning single, the one RBI and a run scored. Ethan Mohan (Calgary, AB) also had a huge game at the plate, going 3-4 with a solo homerun, a triple, three RBIs and three runs scored. After driving in nine runs this weekend, he doubled his RBI total and now has 18 on the season. Vance Fode tied the game in the eighth with a RBI single. Josh Hillis (Calgary, AB) went 2-5 while Isiah McDonald and Josh Iannetti (Fort McMurray, AB) went 1-3. Malcolm Upton (Maple Ridge, BC) and Duncan Elgert also collected base hit each.

This was the WolfPack’s first weekend sweep in over a season. They are now 7-5 on the year. They will practice all week and then leave on Friday for their first road trip of the season to Calgary to take on the Dinos next weekend.
