Huskie Football Schedule Announced

The University of Saskatchewan Huskie football team will kick off the 2017 season on the road before returning home to Griffiths Stadium in PotashCorp Park in Week 2.

New head coach Scott Flory and the Huskies travel to Winnipeg to meet the Manitoba Bisons on September 1 in the first of eight games in their 2017 schedule announced by the conference on Tuesday.

The Huskies return home in the first of four games under the lights on September 8 against the Alberta Golden Bears. Saskatchewan is also at home on September 29 against provincial rival the Regina Rams. The remaining home games are on Saturday’s beginning with October 14 against the UBC Thunderbirds. The Huskies close out the regular season schedule at home on October 28 against the Bisons.

Saskatchewan will also test its skills in a non-conference road game against the McMaster Marauders on August 25th at 7 p.m. at Ron Joyce Stadium in Hamilton.

“Myself and the members of the Huskie football team are excited to get the season going,” said Flory, who was announced as head coach in March. “We have a talented group of athletes and we expect to be competitive in this tough Canada West conference.”

Kickoff for all four home games is slated for 7 p.m. at Griffiths Stadium in PotashCorp Park, with the Wyant Group Rally Alley returning for its third season starting at 5 p.m. The presenting sponsor of Huskie football is Concorde Group of Companies.

Road trips for the Huskies include dates with the T-Birds on September 16, Calgary Dinos on September 23 and the Golden Bears on October 21.

Once again in 2017, CJWW (600 AM) will be the radio broadcast partner for the Huskies. All Huskie games, including any playoff games, will be broadcast live on CJWW. The broadcast will also include a 60-minute pregame show and a 30-minute postgame show.

Huskie spring camp kicks of May 4th with the 17th annual Dogs’ Breakfast featuring former CFL quarterback Henry Burris. A full camp schedule and roster will be released May 2.
