Both the Intermediate and Junior ‘A’ Shamrocks won their home openers Saturday at the Q Centre.  In the matinee it was the Intermediates hosting the New Westminster Salmonbellies, the visitors jumping out to a 7-5 first period lead.  Things were tied at 9 after 40 minutes before the Shamrocks dominated the third frame to take a 16-11 victory. Unofficially Caleb Kueber led the offense with 5 goals and a pair of helpers.  Brayden Brown chipped in 3 of each while Jackson Boyd had the hat trick and 4 assists.  The win leaves the Shamrocks with a 1-1 record on the season as they head to Richmond to take on the Roadrunners Sunday before returning to the Q Centre next Saturday  for a 4:30 pm start time against the Okanagan Wild.


The Junior Shamrocks also hit the floor at the Q Centre for the first time this season coming away with a 14-8 victory over the visiting Port Coquitlam Saints.  The Rocks held period leads of 6-3 and 9-7 en route to the win with team captain Cole Pickup leading the offense with 2 goals and 6 assists.  Braylon Lumb chipped in a 7-point night with 3 goals and 4 helpers while Brian Robb added 3 goals and 3 assists.  Skyler Wilson, Griffin Wilson and Ben Preston each had 2 goals.  Will Kinnaird went the distance in goal kicking out 35 of the 43 shots he faced.  The Jr. Rocks are on the road Sunday to take on the defending Minto Cup champion Coquitlam Adanacs and return to the Q Centre next Saturday, May 6 to host the Burnaby Lakers in a rare 7:30 pm start.
