Bayern have altered their transfer plans for the summer by turning their attention to the Arsenal star.
While Julian Brandt and Serge Gnabry were the obvious options to replace Franck Ribery on Bayern Munich’s left wing, Carlo Ancelotti has something else in mind as the legendary Italian manager wants Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez to be that guy after the Chilean has made himself available for a move recently.
Bayern like to handle their business early as they’ve already signed TSG Hoffenheim stars Niklas Sule and Sebastian Rudy.
Frank Ribery will probably be the third departing star from Bayern and will follow Xabi Alonso and Phillip Lahm at the exit door. Ancelotti wants to have four world class wingers at his disposal for the next season and Alexis fits into his plans perfectly as he’s a similar profile of a player to the 34-year-old Frenchman.
Bayern have reportedly opened talks with the Chilean’s agent yesterday. Alexis has 12 months remaining on his current contract with Arsenal and the following summer is the last opportunity for Arsene Wenger to cash in on him providing he’s not going to commit his long-term future with the club.
Bayern Munich chiefs were seen in attendance at Wembley for Arsenal’s FA Cup semi final match against Manchester City. Alexis shares the same agent with Arturo Vidal, who may also be used to try and persuade his compatriot to make the move to Germany.
