Blazers Select Josh Pillar with 14th Overall Pick


Calgary, AB – The Kamloops Blazers selected right-shot center Josh Pillar with the 14th overall pick of the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft.
Pillar played this last season for the Sask Valley Vipers of the Saskatchewan Bantam AA League. The 5’11” and 150lb native of Warman, SK had 18 goals, 36 assists for 54 points in 25 games this season. He added 10 goals and 19 points in 10 playoff games.

“We are very happy to be able to select Josh with our first pick,” commented Director of Player Personnel, Matt Recchi. “Josh is a skilled player that plays the game hard and relentless. He is a competitive player and the leader of his team. We look forward to him being part of our program.”

Pillar helped his team to the Canadian Western Bantam Championship finals this season. In five games at the event, he had six goals and nine points.
