(May 16, 2017) –  The Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation Council (I·SPARC) is pleased to announce Team BC’s results from the 2017 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships (NAHC), held May 1-6, 2017 in the Cowichan Valley, British Columbia. Team BC was represented at the 2017 NAHC by one male team and one female team — each team comprised of the province’s top Indigenous Midget age players. Team BC’s female and male squads both earned bronze medals in an extremely competitive field of teams from across Canada.

Team BC’s performance at the 2017 NAHC was highlighted by the female team’s triple overtime win against Team Alberta in the bronze medal game. The female squad persevered in the third overtime period beating Team Alberta 2-1. The winning goal was scored by Camryn Scully and assisted by Jordan Mcmillian while the top player of the game was Team BC’s captain, Ts’setku Dunstan. BC’s female team hasn’t medaled at the Nationals since 2008.
