The Comox Valley Wild Bantam A team recently competed in the Joel Reddeman memorial lacrosse tournament in Kelowna BC.
The team coached by Gary Spaven , Graham Fowler, Trevor Howell , Dennis Johannes and Sean Walmsley went 1-1-1 in the round robin and unfortunately just missed out on playing in the bronze medal game. ” It was disappointing not to get into the bronze game , we played well this weekend and it came down to a goals formula to break a tie and we just missed out ” said Walmsley. ” This weekend was a good learning experience for us , we have a lot of players that this is there first time playing A level lacrosse so it was good test for us , we saw a lot of good things and some things we need to work on so even though we didn’t get to play for a medal there is lots to take away from this tournament.
I’m proud of how we played , as long as we keep working hard and getting better every time we step on the floor I think we have a good shot at making the provincial championships in July.”
The Wild will enjoy a few days off now to rest from the weekend and play 3 games in 3 days starting this Friday in Comox vs JDF1 at 7:00pm
