Come From Behind Win For Intermediate Shamrocks

Brayden Brown

In the first match-up of island rivals, the Intermediate Shamrocks came from behind to beat the Nanaimo Timbermen 18-12 to put them at the top of the standings with 14 points.  The Rocks fell behind early, Nanaimo taking a 6-0 lead by the midway mark of the first period but Victoria battled back to trail 6-3 at the end of the period and dominated the rest of the way, outscoring the visitors 8-2 and 7-4 through the final 40 minutes.  Unofficially it was Jackson Boyd and Thomas Vaesen leading Victoria’s offense with 5 goals each and 4 and 3 assists respectively.  Braydon Brown added 4 goals with Josh Pickford chipping in a pair and 2 assists.  Riley Condon did a masterful job in the faceoff circle and goaltender Ryan Atkinson overcame the rocky start to get the win.  Next up for the Intermediate Shamrocks is a home game Saturday, June 3 when they will host the Burnaby Lakers at 1:30 pm at the Q Centre.
