Mark Hughes has moved quickly to sign the veteran midfielder
Darren Fletcher is on the verge of becoming a Stoke City player after his contract at West Bromwich Albion runs out at the end of next month.
The 33-year-old Scotland midfielder will sign a contract that will keep him for two years at the Britannia Stadium after a successful season and a half at West Brom.
Fletcher left United in February of 2015 after he was deemed surplus to requirements for Louis van Gaal, a decision that came back to haunt the Dutch manager as the Scotsman and his experience were duly missed latter on while he was performing well for WBA.
Darren Fletcher has 78 caps for his country and has been a key figure for national-coach Gordon Strachan.
Tony Pulis was eager for him to stay at The Hawthorns, but Stoke will be the next destination for the midfielder.
