June 5, 2017, Victoria, BC: The Belles of the Brawl are now 3-0 on the season after defeating the  Sea-to-Sky Sirens of Squamish Saturday night, June 3rd.

Belles of the Brawl Coach, Capt. Nick, says it was a hard fought, evenly matched game:

“The Belles of the Brawl worked hard to maintain their jammers’ lead status and the Sea-to-Sky Sirens made them fight for each and every one of their lead jams. It was an amazing game to watch and I’m proud of the hard work that all the players put into it.”

The Belles of the Brawl  also had strong defence on their side from blockers, such as Nailer, Hot Piece-A-Sass , and Slaya Patra–who was named MVP. The Fighting Mongoose was given the MVP nod for the Sirens for her strong jamming (and blocking) performance. The Belles of the Brawl will be looking to extend their winning streak to 4 games when they take on Terminal City Roller Girls, in Vancouver, July 15th.

Prior to the headliner matchup, the Eves’ junior team, The Rotten Apples, fell to the Stone Cold Stellas 338-239. Rotten Apples Coach reGretel says she is proud of all her skaters:

“Our experienced skaters were fantastic mentors on the track for our newest skaters. For Slam Duncan, C4 Go Boom, and Lady MacDeath, this was their first game ever. Everyone remained calm and kept fighting for every point. Lady MacDeath even played a zero-penalty game!”

Peanut Butter n’ Slam, the youngest player on the track at 12, was named MVP for the Apples, with Slaughter Melon getting the honour for the Stellas.

Roller Derby returns to Victoria July 8th for the ever-popular annual Pride Bout double-header. The event starts with the Rainbow Riders vs. Glitter Bombs game, with both opponents comprised of players from different teams in the Eves of Destruction and special guests. This game will be followed by the headlining bout featuring the Eves’ A-Team, who face Jet City’s Camaro Harem of Everett, WA.
