Youth teams from the EA Sports BC Soccer Premier League will take to the pitches on Saturday June 24th and Sunday June 25th to play for the BC Soccer Provincial Premier Cup.
The U14 VI Wave won 3-1 over Surrey United to capture the BC Soccer Provincial Premier Cup (photo attached) today in Vancouver, coached Blair Sturrock and Riley O’Neil.
The U16 VI Wave won 1-0 over Mountain United to capture the BC Soccer Provincial Premier Cup.
The U13 boys were runners-up to Surrey United who won the final 2-1.
The U18 VI Wave Girls face Coastal FC tomorrow at 3pm for their chance to bring home the provincial title.
All of the finals are hosted by Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club. There are eight franchises in the BCSPL, one from the Island, one from the Interior and the remaining six from the lower mainland. The BCSPL provides an elevated level of competition for high performance players in BC. The Vancouver Island Wave franchise is made up of players from the Lower Island Soccer Association and the Upper Island Soccer Association.
The VI Wave will be represented in four provincial finals. On Saturday the Wave will participate in Boys U13 coached by Frank Woods and Victor Pereira, Boys U14 coached by Blair Sturrock and Riley O’Neil and U16 coached by Frank Woods and Stuart Bancroft. On Sunday the Wave will participate in Girls U18 coached by Dave Dew of the Victoria Highlanders FC.

Vancouver Island Wave won a provincial title in 2014 as the U15 girls, 5 of the girls on that team are playing with the U18 girls this season, they are Kiana Swift, Dari Cote, Briar Mayoh, Brea Christie and Anna Slang.
