Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals announce that J.F. Best has been hired as an assistant coach.
A product of Ottawa, ON, Best spent last season as an assistant coach with both the Kanata Lasers of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) and their under-18 AAA team of Hockey Eastern Ontario.
“J.F. is a young coach who brings unique skills and experience to the Royals’ staff,” President and General Manager Cameron Hope said. “He is an excellent addition to our team.”
Since 2015, Best has worked as a consultant in Performance Analysis for the Danish Ice Hockey Federation. Recently, he joined Team Denmark as Performance Analyst at both the 2017 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships in Montreal and Toronto, and at the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships in Cologne, Germany, and Paris, France.
Before joining the Kanata Lasers, the 33-year-old spent the 2015-16 campaign as the Director of Performance Analysis for the Ontario Hockey League’s (OHL) Ottawa 67’s. During the 2015-16 season, Best also served as an assistant coach for the HEO’s Nepean Raiders Under-18 AAA team.
Best spent one season (2013-14) as the Performance Analyst and Hockey Operations Assistant for the Tri-City Americans.
Best has graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, and majored in Political Science. He has also earned an International Master’s Degree in Performance Analysis of Sport from Nottingham Trent University in the UK.
