WOLFVILLE, N.S. – Acadia University and Axemen Basketball head coach Kevin Duffie announced today the addition of standout recruit, Mason Middaugh, from London, Ont.

A 6’6” swingman who recently played at the RISE Prep in Brantford Ontario, Middaugh captured a bronze medal at OFSAA AA Basketball Championship in 2016 with Pope John Paul II Catholic Secondary School in London.

Middaugh also played for the perennial power house CIA Bounce club team on the NIKE EYBL AAU circuit under Acadia assistant coach Luc Stevenson.

Duffie is thrilled with the commitment by Middaugh as he brings great size, skill and athleticism to a veteran team with lots of rotational players returning.

“We are really excited to add a player of Mason’s caliber to the Axemen. We think he will have an immediate impact to our group”, said Duffie

“I just want to thank my friends and family for the constant support and love they have given me throughout the past 6 years and for the coaching staff at Acadia University for this opportunity to further my academic career as well as achieving my athletic ambitions.” commented Middaugh.

The Axemen begin the exhibition season with two consecutive weekend tournaments beginning at the Calgary Cup on weekend of October 5th to 7th followed by the House-Laughton Tournament hosted by Carleton on October 13th – 15th.

Acadia opens the AUS regular season at home against the visiting Memorial Sea-Hawks on Saturday, November 4 at 8:00 p.m.
