Nine Blazers at NHL Development Camps


Kamloops, BC – The Kamloops Blazers have nine players off last season’s roster that have participated in NHL Development Camps this summer.

Goaltender Connor Ingram was at the Tampa Bay Lightning Development Camp from June 27 – July 1. He was originally a third-round pick of the Lightning in the 2016 NHL Draft. The 20-year-old goaltender is signed and is expected to play this coming season with the Syracuse Crunch, the Lightning’s top affiliate team in the AHL.

Forward Deven Sideroff participated in the Anaheim Ducks Development Camp from June 29 – July 2. The 20-year-old was a third-round pick of the Ducks in the 2015 NHL Draft. He is signed and is expected to play next season with the San Diego Gulls, the Ducks top affiliate team, in the AHL.

Rudolfs Balcers is in San Jose participating in the Sharks Development Camp July 3 – 7. The 20-year-old scored 40 goals with the Blazers last season and will try to crack the Sharks top AHL affiliate team, the San Jose Barracuda roster this upcoming season.

Kamloops native Nick Chyzowski and defenseman Ondrej Vala will participate in the Dallas Stars Development Camp July 7 – 11. Chyzowski is on a free agent tryout and is expected to play his 20-year-old season with the Blazers. Vala was undrafted, but signed with the Stars in September 2016. He will return to the Blazers this upcoming season.

Goaltender Dylan Ferguson went to his first NHL Development Camp. He was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the 2017 NHL Draft, but recently traded to the Las Vegas Golden Knights The 19-year-old participated in the Golden Knights inaugural Development Camp June 27 – July 1.

Forward Garrett Pilon participated in the Washington Capitals Development Camp June 27 – July 1. He was a third-round pick by the Capitals in the 2016 NHL Draft and was signed this past April. Pilon will return to the Blazers as a 19-year-old this upcoming season.

Forward Luc Smith and defenseman Nolan Kneen both were invited as free agents to NHL Development Camps. Smith participated in New York Rangers camp and Kneen was with the Florida Panthers. Smith and Kneen will both return to play with the Blazers this upcoming season.
