Jr. Shamrocks Heading to Playoffs

The Jr. Shamrocks travelled to the mainland today to take on the Langley Thunder in a 1-game winner-take-all wild card game and came away with an 8-7 victory to move into the league semi-finals.  The Shamrocks led 3-2 and 7-4 by period but the Thunder struck back and outscored the visitors 3-1 in the final period falling just short.

Leading the way offensively was Marshal King with 4 goals and 2 assists.  Brad McCulley had a goal and 2 helpers with Skyler Wilson, Braylon Lumb and David Byrne adding singles and Nick Preston chipping in a pair of assists.  Will Kinnaird was outstanding in goal, kicking out 36 of the 43 shots he faced, especially late with the game on the line.  Langley’s season is now over and the Shamrocks will take on the first place Coquitlam Adanacs in a best-of-5 semi final.

Tentative start date is Saturday in Coquitlam with game 2 tentatively back at the Q Centre on Sunday, July 16.  Subject to confirmation from the league, both games are 2:00 pm starts.
