Solomon Elimimian

It was a productive eight-day eastern business trip for the BC Lions as the club notched wins over the Toronto Argonauts and Montreal Alouettes to improve to 2-1 on the season.

For linebacker Solomon Elimimian, last week’s 23-16 win over the Als was especially notable as the veteran defensive standout established a new team-record with 15 tackles on the night.

Thursday’s lofty tackle total has also earned him a Top Performer nod as announced by the CFL this morning.

It’s been a memorable start to the 2017 season for the CFL’s two-time Most Outstanding Defensive Player as Elimimian surpassed the all-time club mark for combined tackles (defensive stops plus special teams tackles) in Week 1 formerly held by Dante Marsh (609) and then followed that up by breaking Marsh’s all-time Lions defensive tackle record (587) in Week 2.

Last week’s highlight reel game in Montreal saw the future hall of famer notch his 600th career tackle and this Saturday’s game in Hamilton will be his 100th as a pro.

The next Lions home game is Friday, July 21 versus the Winnipeg Blue Bombers presented by Nissan.
