VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Monday that 21 players from BC have been selected to join the club’s full-time boys Residency program, set to move to the new National Soccer Development Centre (NSDC).

Among the new players, 15 will join the U-14 team, three to the U-15 team, two to the U-16 squad, and one to the U-18 team. 20 players came through the BC Soccer High Performance Program.

The U-14 boys team will kick off their season this weekend when they travel to Mexico to take part in the U-13 CONCACAF Champions League for a second straight year. The rest of the teams will begin training in mid-August, while the Development Academy season starts in September for the U-16 and U-18 squads.

“We have another exciting group of young players entering the Residency program this year,” said Craig Dalrymple, Whitecaps FC Residency technical director. “Our partnership with BC Soccer and the BCSPL continues to be crucial to developing local players for our program. We’d like to thank all clubs for their tremendous work in setting up these young players for success.”

“BC Soccer would like to congratulate all of the BC players that have been selected for the Whitecaps FC Residency program and thank the clubs and individuals that have supported them on their journey,” said Chris Cerroni, BC Soccer director of soccer development.  “It’s wonderful to see these players develop. On behalf of BC Soccer I want to wish them the very best as they continue their pursuit to become professional soccer players and to represent their country.”
