Mission XI Million Festival found another warm host in the beautiful city of Chandigarh a day after spreading smiles in the ‘City of Lakes’, Bhopal just yesterday. Like all the festivals till now, the one held at Chandigarh also saw students from all over the city coming and participating with great enthusiasm.
The kids from the city that serves as the administrative capital of both Punjab and Haryana, also learnt a great deal about the game and its nuances apart from participating in friendlies that saw some quality football being played.
The festival held at Chandigarh’s Sports Complex in Sector 42 was attended by close to 500 students who had thronged the venue from around 50 schools in the city. They keenly listened to the Official Mascot of the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017, Kheleo, talk about the upcoming tournament and the MXIM programme before playing exhibition games and battled hard for several tournament sponsor merchandise on offer as prizes. Several workshops were also conducted at the venue for the participants.
Project Director of the Local Organising Committee for FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017, Joy Bhattacharjya said, “It is brilliant to see yet another city responding so warmly and enthusiastically to Mission XI Million. With every city and every festival, we are reaching closer to the goal of making football the popular choice of sport in the country”.
