OAKLAND, Calif. – Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto today announced the following medical update on Mariners right-handed pitcher Felix Hernandez and right-handed pitcher David Phelps.
Hernandez was placed on the 10-day disabled list on Saturday, August 5. Phelps was placed on the 10-day disabled list earlier today. Both players underwent testing yesterday in Seattle, and were examined by Mariners Medical Director
- Edward Khalfayan.
Hernandez was diagnosed with bursitis in his right shoulder. He is expected to miss three-to-four weeks.
Phelps was diagnosed with an impingement in his right elbow. He is expected to miss two-to-three weeks.
