August 10, 2017, Victoria, BC – The Victoria HarbourCats swept away the Kelowna Falcons Wednesday night and now will begin their first ever West Coast League (WCL) Championship Series at home this Saturday night, August 12th, against the Corvallis Knights, who advanced Thursday after defeating the Yakima Valley Pippins 3-2 in the deciding game of the South Division Championship at Goss Field in Corvallis.

First pitch at Royal Athletic Park for the HarbourCats first ever Championship Series game and the ONLY HOME GAME they will get in the three-game series, will be at 6:35 PM. Games two and three (if needed) will be played in Corvallis on Monday and Tuesday of next week.

The HarbourCats advanced to the final by first winning the second-half North Division title on the very last day of the season, getting some help ironically from Corvallis, who needed to defeat Wenatchee to allow the HarbourCats to advance.

Victoria’s high powered offence then went to work on the Kelowna Falcons, defeating them 8-2 last Tuesday here in Victoria and 11-5 Wednesday night in Kelowna – their first two franchise playoff wins – to advance to the final.

The Knights needed the full three games of their South Division final to oust the Pippins following a 9-3 Pippins win on Tuesday that opened that series. The Knights rebounded for a 8-4 win Wednesday, before the nail-biting 3-2 win Thursday to advance to the ninth WCL final in their franchise history.
